Salford's Highway Services team provides a service of routine gully emptying.
This means that everyone of the council's gullies will be cleaned at least once per year. It also provides a reactive service, which is available to clean gullies on a priority basis when flooding is occurring.
However, problems can occur even when the gullies are clean and well maintained. For example, it isn't unusual for some roads to flood when the amount of water on the road is greater than the capacity of the drainage in the area, perhaps during and after a heavy rainstorm.
