We provide a collection service for dead animals found on the street or in a public open space (we do not collect animals from homes).
All dead animals are collected by our street cleansing team and then disposed of by our partners Viridor. We will always ensure that the animal is checked for identification (such as a collar or microchip) and if the animals owner can be identified, we will contact them before its disposal.
If you find five or more dead birds, you should call the Defra helpline on 08459 33 55 77. The helpline will assess whether the birds are a high risk species requiring collection.
