Sign in or register for an accountSalford has a number of existing commemorative plaques around the city to commemorate and celebrate notable aspects of Salford's heritage, including buildings, people and events. These help to connect residents, communities and visitors to the city's past, to foster pride and a sense of place and identity and to help ensure the custodianship of Salford's heritage.
To ensure the quality, consistency and transparency of the scheme, we apply a set of criteria to all new nominations. Please read these carefully before you apply.

Submit a proposal for a new commemorative plaque
Please note that this is a self-funded scheme, meaning that applicants are required to meet all of the costs, including research, fabrication and installation. Costs are likely to be in the region of £1,000, depending on the size of plaque desired.
To help celebrate Salford’s Centenary year in 2026, funding has been made available which can be used for commemorative plaques, to find out more about what funding is available and how to apply for funding, please visit the Salford CVS - Salford Centenary Fund webpage.
