Greengate is the medieval heart of the city of Salford and lies on the Salford - Manchester border.
Greengate has been a key investment focus of the council for a number of years now, with a vision to create a new corporate centre for Salford.
So far around £110 million has been invested in Greengate by the private sector over the last few years, creating 800 new residential units at Spectrum and Abito and 4,000 square metres of commercial floorspace. In addition the council unveiled a new iconic £13.3 million public realm at Greengate Square in February 2013.
Salford City Council has prepared this regeneration strategy to provide an updated framework for the transformation of the Greengate area of the city into a vibrant mixed use area comprising residential, commercial and leisure uses. This strategy replaces The Exchange Greengate Planning Guidance, which was adopted by Salford City Council in 2007.
Public consultation on the draft regeneration strategy took place from July to August 2013 and the strategy was formally adopted by the council in March 2014
