The regeneration of Pendleton is a key part of transforming Central Salford. This is reflected in the quality of design of the environment in the area with landmark buildings and green landscaping adding to the area's identity.
Pendleton is a distinctive neighbourhood and a celebration of everything that is good about urban living. Its public spaces are attractive, safe, well used and well managed and will be places where the community comes together.
Pendleton's retail hub is a vital and vibrant shopping offer. Salford Shopping Centre provides 280,000 square feet of retail space with Tesco Extra (which opened in October 2012) providing 130,000 square feet of everything you need in a supermarket.
The opening of the Tesco store coincided with the completion of the pedestrianised public realm area which ensured that the superstore integrates with the centre. This public space features high quality paving, green spaces, public seating areas as well as a central main square. It has enhanced the shopping experience, linking Salford Shopping Centre and Tesco Extra, to the benefit of both shoppers and businesses. Further enhancements and improvements are being planned and for more details on shopping, visit Pendleton Way.
