6 | Matters Arising (a) Arising from Minute 85 The concerns of the Committee about the possibility of privatising health services and the difficulty which many residents had experienced in being accepted as a NHS patient by many dentists were conveyed to the PCT which agreed to add them to their consultation and submit to the Committee their final report on the consultation findings. (b)Arising from Minute 87 enclosed is a note from the Swinton Open Space Community Association expressing their thanks for the support of the Community Committee. 7 | Highways Capital Programme - Update At the meeting on 10th October, 2006, the Committee agreed that the following schemes should be implemented using funds under the devolved highways budget: Town Centre Residents' Parking Scheme. Improvements to the footpath at Sefton Road to Mossfield Road so as to make it into a cycle route. Traffic calming measures at the junction of Rake Lane/Lumns Lane. Improving the pavements, filling the potholes and cutting back the trees at Rake Lane near the railway station. Steven Lee of Urban Vision will attend the meeting to give an update on these schemes and other highway projects in the Swinton area. At the Council meeting on 18th April, 2007, it was confirmed that the devolved highways budget would continue in 2007/08 with each Community Committee being allocated £100,000 to identify priorities for highway improvements. Members should appreciate that any over-spend on the schemes approved in 2006 will have to be met from this allocation and will be asked to agree to the Local Environment Task Group developing a list of projects, for submission to a future meeting of the Committee, which might be financed under the remaining budget.
