The results of the Eccles ward election have been declared Lisa Muir, has been declared the winner in the 2024 Eccles by-election.
The turnout for the election, held on Thursday 31 October 2024, was 16.46% per cent with 1,872 votes cast and 16 ballot papers were rejected.
The votes were cast as follows (in alphabetical order):
- Sally GRIFFITHS, Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition - 76
- Sara LAING, Green Party - 261
- Ian Alexander MCKINLAY, Liberal Democrats - For A Fair Deal - 142
- Lisa MUIR, Labour Party - 951
- Daniel Andrew WHITEHOUSE, Conservative Party Candidate - 426
This by-election follows the resignation of Labour councillor, Sharmina August.
The political makeup of the council is as follows:
- Labour: 50
- Conservative: 7
- Liberal Democrat: 2
- Independent: 1
