Course description

Salford data provides us with ongoing evidence that fewer boys than girls achieve the expected level of development at the end of the EYFS. All Early Years practitioners can play their part to narrow this gap, regardless of the age of the children they work with.

This course will enable you to reflect on the learning needs of all children with a particular focus on why boys achieve lower than girls at the end of EYFS and what we can do about it.

The course will look at practical ways to support effective learning for boys to impact on better outcomes for all.

Outcomes

  • Unpick the data and research linked to boys’ attainment
  • Consider the role of the enabling environment (both indoors and outdoors) on boys’ learning
  • Reflect on barriers to boys’ learning
