Course description:

This course focuses on sustained shared thinking and using observations to enhance children's learning in the moment. It explores the EYFS through meaningful, responsive, and engaging interactions with children. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the adult's role in supporting learning, recognising teachable moments, and creating environments and experiences that promote children's development across all areas of learning.

Outcomes:

  • To develop a deeper understanding of how meaningful interactions support children's learning and development within the EYFS.

  • To explore the role of the adult in identifying and responding to teachable moments during everyday experiences and play.

  • To understand how sustained shared thinking can extend children's learning, language, and critical thinking skills.

  • To gain confidence in using observations to respond to children's interests and learning needs in the moment.

  • To recognise how meaningful moments contribute to progress across the Prime and Specific Areas of Learning, as well as the Characteristics of Effective Learning.

  • To develop an understanding of how meaningful observations and interactions can be used to identify children's next steps and inform effective planning.
