Reception Network Meeting - Literacy and Maths

Reception teachers and teaching assistants

Course description:

To provide an opportunity for Reception practitioners to reflect on implementing the EYFS framework, including assessment practices. References will be made to relevant evidence-informed documentation including: Strong foundations in the first years of school, The Reading Framework and The Writing Framework, alongside the DfE Early years foundation stage profile assessment support materials.

Delegates will take part in professional discussions with other Reception practitioners, be encouraged to ask questions, share good practice and network across schools.

The course will include:

  • Improving high- quality interactions

  • Using everyday formative assessment to understand and support children’s learning

  • Child initiated and focused teaching

This session will focus on Literacy and Maths, while also considering links to other areas of learning.

If you wish to bring any resources, e.g. floor books, planning, photos etc to support professional discussion and to share good practice with others, please feel free to do so.

Outcomes:

  • Better understanding of the EYFS curriculum and more ideas for implementation
