Course description:

The EYFS point (3.32) states that at least half of all staff must have received training that specifically addresses the care of babies. This course will help baby room staff understand the basic needs of babies taking into account the importance of relationships and quality routines. It will look at the value of environment and discuss early sensory and motor development.

Outcomes:

  • To explore why a good knowledge of child development is vital in understanding how babies learn and develop
  • To understand attachment theory and the importance of the key person approach
  • To discuss the basic needs of babies in early years settings
  • To explore key issues of working with babies and the importance of quality care routines within the baby room
  • To identify aspects of a quality learning environment for babies to support their learning and development
