Developing Skills in Moving and Handling of Children

Delivered by:

Occupational Therapy - Paediatric Therapy Team (Salford)

Session content:

  • An introduction to Health and Safety legislation in the workplace, including an overview of risk assessment
  • Understanding basic principles of movement and the importance of back care
  • Practical techniques, tips and advice for safely supporting children and young people with their moving and handling needs in an education, nursery, home and play environment
  • Safe use of specialist moving and handling equipment

Who is it for?

Those who handle children/young people on a regular basis, including moving on/off the floor, positioning in chairs or help with toileting and changing, within an education, nursery, home or play setting.

This includes those supporting children who require use of equipment such as specialist seating, mobility aids and hoisting.

Each session is led by a Key Trainer from Salford Paediatric Therapy Team, who holds certification as endorsed by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy and RoSPA.

  • Six hours
