Dementia Action Week in Salford - May 2025

Dementia Action Week takes place from 19 to 25 May 2025, where we will continue to raise awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia. 

Monday 19 May 2025

The Human Library

Join us at the Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton and pupils from Moorside High School for a human library to exchange stories and thoughts. 10.30am to 12p, refreshments will be served.

The Aspire Choir

Join us at the Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton to enjoy a performance by the Aspire choir, singing a range of songs. They meet every Monday, 1.30pm to 2.30pm for rehearsals.

A morning full of nostalgia and a vintage police car! Join us at the Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton. 10.30am to 12pm, refreshments will be served.

Music and Dancing with Dementia

Come and join us every Wednesday at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton 11am to 12pm We have a fabulous mix of singers which perform different songs and genres each week.

Reading Well for Dementia Salford Libraries

Reading Well for Dementia Collection is part of the stock in Salford Libraries.

Open Doors Dementia Reading Group at Eccles Library every Wednesday 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

Age UK Salford information surgery

Age UK Salford will be available at Sides Medical Centre offering a dementia information surgery form 1pm to 3pm (Moorside Road, Worsley, M27 0EW).

Kurling

Join us at the Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton for Indoor Kurling. This is a low impact game, ideal for those who want to have a bit of competitive fun. Suitable for all ages and abilities, an opportunity to meet new people in a welcoming environment.

Every Wednesday 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Tai Chi

Relax, find your balance and inner peace with Tai Chi, gentle movements and mindfulness. Tai Chi class suitable for older people and people living with dementia.

Every Wednesday 3pm to 3.30pm.

Bingo and Dominos

Join us at the Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Swinton If you enjoy playing tabletop games, then this group would be perfect for you! We play bingo, dominos and many more tabletop games. We reminisce, meet new people, and enjoy lunch together in the dementia friendly café .

Every Thursday 10.30am to 12pm.

Free Carers Walk 

Buile Hill Park - Eccles Old Road, Salford M6 8GL. 11am to 2pm.

Whether you are new to our walks or have been with us before, come and join us, have a chat and make new friends then relax with lunch at the Garden Centre Cafe.

Walking Sports - Dementia Friendly

Age UK Salford's Walking Football sessions for those living with dementia. The groups will be facilitated by Foundation 92, who provide professional and experienced coaches and a dementia worker. Every Thursday 1pm to 3pm Albert Park.

Aspire 'Forget Me Not' Dementia RHS Remembrance Celebration 1pm to 3pm

Aspire invites you to join them in partnership with RHS Garden Bridgewater for the annual Aspire 'Forget Me Not' Dementia Remembrance Celebration,  All are welcome to come along and enjoy the gardens free of charge.
