Foot and nail care

Good foot health, including keeping nails cut, can help prevent falls. It's even more important for people with diabetes.

Don't ignore foot problems because you are embarrassed by them.

The NHS has lots of advice about keeping your feet healthy.

Podiatrists (sometimes called chiropodists) are trained 'foot doctors' and many have a home visiting service. 

Search the College of Podiatry for local services.  

Podiatrists and chiropodists must be registered with the Health an Care Professions Council and you should check their registration before making an appointment.

If you have more serious problems with your feet, contact your local health or Gateway Centre and ask for a referral to the podiatry service.
