Salford City Council are no longer the main housing provider for what is formerly known as sheltered housing.
There are a number of housing associations in Salford who provide accommodation for people aged 55 and over (although some landlords may lower this age limit for people with particular needs for this type of housing).
Sometimes referred to as sheltered housing, this type of accommodation allows you to:
- Continue to live independently in your own self-contained flat or bungalow
- Secure entrance that only residents have fob access to the building
- Have peace of mind with daily checks (there is a charge for this service).
- Enjoy the privacy of your own home with having your own front door
- Socialise and make new friends by taking part in activities, such as coffee mornings, exercise classes and organized trips out – if you want to
Salford has a number of these schemes across the city, but the level of support and the design of the homes are different from scheme to scheme.

The service is able to offer a telephone interpreter service (who can translate English into another language). British Sign Language interpreters are also available for Deaf people.
