Children aged four to 12 can enter any type of artwork into an international youth painting contest hosted by the Chinese province Jiangsu.
The theme for Salford is: Through my eyes: the future of Salford
The material and form of painting includes, but is not limited to, aquarelle, gouache, printmaking, paper-cut, encaustic scratch and cartoon; but the painting size should be equivalent to A3 paper.
The contest is co-organised in China by the Foreign Affairs Office, Information Office, Department of Education, Department of Culture and Tourism of Jiangsu, Provincial People’s Government, and Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.
The UK cities taking part in the contest are Salford, Colchester and Stafford. The painting contest is part of our ongoing work to have close ties and learning with Chinese people, culture and business in Jiangsu and the city of Yangzhou. We are working with RHS Bridgewater to create a Chinese Streamside Garden and with Chinese communities in Salford and China to develop thriving businesses that benefit people in Salford.
The best of the paintings will be awarded the first, second, and third prizes and included in painting exhibitions both in and outside of China. All painters will be given a certificate for their participation in the contest.

The deadline for submitting entries is 29 November. To enter, a photo or digital version of the art should be submitted to: salfordart@salford.gov.uk
