Brackley Golf Course temporary footpath closure

Salford City Council intends to make in no less than seven days the Salford City Council (Definitive Map Footpaths 102 and 154 Swinton and Pendlebury) (Temporary Closure) Order 2021 under section 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The order will temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding in:

  1. Definitive Map Footpath 102 Worsley - Full length (from Footpath 101 on Rothwell Lane, north to its junction with Footpath 154, a distance of approximately 494 metres); and
  2. Definitive Map Footpath 154 Worsley - Full length (from Bullows Road, north towards the M61, then turning west to its junction with Footpath 102, a distance of approximately 463 metres).

The pedestrian diversion routes will be:

  • when both Footpaths are closed, via the footpath known as the Campbell Spur, then via Campbell Road and the A580 East Lancashire Road, and vice versa; and
  • at such stages of the works as permits - via Footpath DF48 if it is temporarily reopened when Footpath DF50 is closed; and via Footpath DF50 if it is temporarily reopened when Footpath DF48 is closed.

Diversion - on the southern boundary of the development of the former Brackley Golf Club the diversionary route for Footpath 102 begins on Rothwell Lane and then follows a footpath at the back of the playing field which links to Greenheys Road.

The diversionary route then turns right onto Greenheys Road, and a left onto Brookhurst Lane, followed by another left onto Captain Fold Road. After following Captain Fold Road for 250 metres, the diversionary route then turns left onto Bullows Road which leads to Moorhey Road.

Here the route passes the point of closure of Footpath 154 at the site boundary on Moorhey Road. Continuing on Moorhey Road the diversion turns left at Newcombe Drive and then turns north onto Anchor Lane.

The diversionary route then follows Anchor Lane for 418 metres, crossing the bridge over the M61. The diversion then turns west where it follows a footpath adjacent to an existing residential development and along the boundary of a field.

Following the footpath for 280 metres, the route then turns south on the footpath and crosses another bridge over the M61 to Footpath 154 on the north side of the former golf club – and vice versa.
