Worsley Definitive Footpath 42 temporary footpath closure

The council of the city of Salford ('the council') being the Traffic Authority for Worsley Definitive Footpath 42, Salford is satisfied that persons on foot on the said footpath in the city of Salford should be restricted or prohibited because works are proposed to be executed on or near the footpath and the council in exercise of the power conferred by section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following order:

1. Save as provided in this order, no person shall, except upon the direction of a constable in uniform or a traffic warden cause any pedestrian to proceed on Worsley Definitive Footpath 42 for its entire length.

2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons carrying out of the works to which the order relates.

3. The diversion routes will be via Hawthorne Drive – Elm Crescent – Alfred Avenue – Greenleach Lane – Broad Oak Park – Hazelhurst Road – Partington Street – Hazelhurst Fold – Worsley Definitive Footpath 43, vice versa.

4. The Interpretation Act 1978 shall apply for the interpretation of this order as it applies to an Act of Parliament.

5. This order shall come into operation on the 3 August 2026, and may be cited as the Salford City Council (Worsley Definitive Footpath 42) Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order 2026.

6. This order shall continue in force for 6 months provided that if all necessary works of repair and reconstruction are completed within a shorter period, this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

7. Pursuant to subsections (7) and (8) of section 14 of the Act, any statutory provision currently in force which is affected by this order shall take effect subject to this order and shall, insofar as it is inconsistent with this order, be suspended for the duration of this order.
