Statement of reasons

Salford City Council propose to the above Traffic Order to support the operation of a new development on Trafford Road, Ordsall, and also to improve road safety and the free flow of traffic on Archie Street and its junctions.

The proposals are for:

  1. No Waiting At Any Time and No loading At Any Time on Archie Street in the vicinity of a new vehicular access to the ‘X1’ development, to ensure safe access and egress at all times is maintained; and a
  2. A Loading / Unloading Parking – operational all times - for the use in particular of refuse disposal wagons and other service vehicles to load and unload from the west side of the vehicular access off Archie Street to service the new ‘X1’ development, without unduly restricting access for other road users.

The proposals will also protect the new pedestrian dropped crossing points, prohibit parking on the 'S' bend shaped length of Archie Street and clear the junction area with Elmira Way, which would otherwise be a hazard to other road users and pedestrians.
