Traffic regulation order: Lower Broughton Road and surrounding streets

Salford City Council proposes to make the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

City of Salford (Lower Broughton Road and Adjacent Streets, Broughton) (No Stopping on School Entrance Markings, Prohibition of Waiting, Restriction of Waiting and Amendment) Order 2026

The effect of the proposed Order will be to introduce the following provisions:

No Stopping on School Entrance Markings (Kerem Shloime Primary School) Monday to Friday between 8am to 5pm on:

Lower Broughton Road 

  • South-east side, from 23.6m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Duncan Street, for 31.56m in a north-easterly direction.

No Stopping on School Entrance Markings (St Boniface RC Primary School) Monday to Friday between 8am to 9.30am and 3pm to 4.30pm on:  

Yew Street

  • North side, from 25m west of the extended western kerbline of The Bails for 25.56m in a westerly direction.
  • North side, from 5m east of the extended eastern kerbline of Grecian Street North in a westerly direction for 25.56m.

No Waiting At Any Time on:

Lower Broughton Road

  • North-west side, from 10m south-west of the south westerly projected kerbline of The Polygon to 10m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of The Polygon.
  • South-east side, from 10m south-west of the south westerly projected kerbline of Oak Road to 10m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Oak Road. 
  • South-east side, from 10m south-west of the south westerly projected kerbline of Griffin Street to 10m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Griffin Street.
  • South-east side, from 5m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of Cliff Avenue to 5m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Cliff Avenue. 
  • South-east side, from 5m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of Yew Street to 5m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Yew Street. 
  • North-west side, from 10m south of the southerly projected kerbline of Hugh Oldham Drive to 10m north of the northerly projected kerbline of Hugh Oldham Drive. 
  • South-east side, from 10m south of the southerly projected kerbline of Priory Grove to 10m north of the northerly projected kerbline of Priory Grove. 
  • South-east side, from 10m south of the southerly projected kerbline of The Priory to 10m north-east of the northerly projected kerbline of The Priory. 
  • South-east side, from 10m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of Duncan Street to 10m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Duncan Street. 
  • South-east side, from 10m south-west from the south-westerly projected kerbline of Howe Street to 10m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Howe Street.
  • South-east side, from the south-westerly projected kerbline of Hope Street for 10m in a south-westerly direction. 

The Polygon

  • Both sides, from the north-westerly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 5m in a north-westerly direction. 

Oak Road

  • Both sides, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 10m in a south-easterly direction. 

Griffin Street

  • Both sides, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 5m in a south-easterly direction. 

Cliff Avenue

  • Both sides, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 5m in a south-easterly direction. 

Yew Street

  • Both sides, from the easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 5m in an easterly direction.

  • Both sides, from the easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 10m in an easterly direction. 
  • Both sides, from the north westerly projected kerbline of Great Clowes Street for 10m in a north-westerly direction.

Great Clowes Street

  • West side, from 10m south of the south-westerly projected kerbline of The Priory to 10m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of The Priory. 
  • Both sides, from 10m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of Duncan Street to 20m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Duncan Street. 
  • North-west side, from 8.2m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of Howe Street to 7.3m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Howe Street. 
  • South-east side, from 9.3m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of St. John’s Street to 8.2m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of St John’s Street. 
  • West side, from the north-easterly projected kerbline of Hope Street for 13.8m in a northerly direction.

Scovell Street

  • Both sides, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Great Clowes Street for 10n in a south-easterly direction. 

Howe Street

  • Both sides, from the north-westerly projected kerbline of Great Clowes Street for 10m in a north-westerly direction, 
  • Both sides, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 10m in a south-easterly direction.

St Johns Street

  • Both sides, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Great Clowes Street for 10m in a south-easterly direction.

Hope Street

  • South-west side, from the south-easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 10m  in a south-easterly direction, 
  • Both sides, from the westerly projected kerbline of Great Clowes Street for 10m in a north westerly direction. 

Knoll Street

  • Both sides, from the easterly projected kerbline of Great Clowes Street to the south-westerly projected kerbline of Hamilton Street.

No Waiting Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on:

  • North side, from 13m east of the easterly projected kerbline of Lower Broughton Road for 47m in an easterly direction.

20mph Speed Limit Zone on:

  • Lower Broughton Road, from 54.7m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of The Polygon in a northerly direction to its junction with Great Clowes Street. 
  • The Polygon, for its entire length. 
  • Hugh Oldham Drive, for its entire length.
  • Priory Grove, for its entire length. 
  • The Priory, for its entire length. 
  • Priory Avenue, for its entire length. 
  • Duncan Street, for its entire length. 
  • Back Duncan Street, from its junction with Lower Broughton Road, for 18m in a south-easterly direction up to its gated closure. 
  • Howe Street, for its entire length. 
  • Back Howe Street, from its junction with Lower Broughton Road, for 19m in a south-easterly direction up to its gated closure. 
  • Hope Street, for its entire length.

Notice is hereby given that Salford City Council proposes to introduce:

Flat Top Road Humps - 75mm high, 4m long, with gradients no steeper than 1:10 on:

Lower Broughton Road

  1. Midpoint will be 26m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of The Polygon with a width of 8.6m.  
  2. Midpoint will be 7.8m south-west of the south-westerly projected kerbline of Oak Road with a width of 8m.
  3. Midpoint will be 7.8m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Griffin Street with a width of 8.7m.
  4. Midpoint will be 10.6m south-west of the southerly projected kerbline of Yew Street with a width of 8.9m.
  5. Midpoint will be 10.3m south-west of the southerly projected kerbline of Hugh Oldham Drive with a width of 8.3m.
  6. Midpoint will be 17.3m south-west of the southerly projected kerbline of The Priory with a width of 8.4m.
  7. Midpoint will be 67.7m north of the northerly projected kerbline of The Priory with a width of 8.4m.
  8. Midpoint will be 30m north-east of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Duncan Street with a width of 7.6m.

Existing Orders are to be amended so as to be consistent with the proposals. 
 
A copy of the Orders, the plans and the statement of the council’s reasons for proposing to make the above Orders will be available for inspection at Swinton Gateway, 100 Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 6BP, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm.
