Traffic regulation order: St Stephen Street

Salford City Council proposes to make the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

City of Salford (St Stephen Street at its Junction with Chapel Street, Blackfriars and Trinity) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) Order 2025

The effect of the proposed Order will be to introduce the following provisions:

Prohibition Of Motor Vehicles (with exemption for e-scooters used in the Trial) on:

St Stephen Street

  • From the northerly projected kerbline of Chapel Street, for a distance of 11.6 metres in a northerly direction.

A copy of the Order, a plan and the statement of the council’s reasons for proposing to make the above Order will be available for inspection at Swinton Gateway, 100 Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 6BP, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Alternatively, copies of the documentation may be requested via the email phlegal@manchester.gov.uk or the postal addresses below.

Salford City Council Footway Conversion to Unsegregated Cycle Track on St Stephen Street and Chapel Street, Blackfriars and Trinity

Notice is hereby given that Salford City Council proposes to convert the following lengths of existing footway to cycle track use under section 66(4) and 65(1) of the Highways Act 1980. 

The footways specified below will be converted to unsegregated use areas for pedestrians and cyclists:

  1. Chapel Street, north side, from a point 17.6 metres west of the westerly projected kerbline of Trinity Way for a distance of 16.9 metres in a westerly direction; and
  2. St Stephen Street, both sides, from the northerly projected kerbline of Chapel Street for a distance of 11.6 metres in a northerly direction.

The scheme plan and a statement of the reasons for the proposal may be inspected at Swinton Gateway, 100 Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 6BP Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm.
