Design supplementary planning document

Shaping Salford - supplementary planning document: design

'Shaping Salford', the council's design supplementary planning document (SPD) sets out key guidelines to enhance the quality and distinctiveness of places when developing in Salford. The document seeks to raise the quality of the built environment and ensure that high standards of design are achieved throughout the city.

Shaping Salford specifically supplements the following saved unitary development plan policies: ST1, ST8 and DES1 to DES11 and is supplemented by the Salford landscape character assessment.

Public consultation

The draft SPD was subject to a period of public consultation between 14 September and 25 October 2007. All comments received were taken into consideration and the SPD was amended where appropriate. A summary of all representations made during the consultation period can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Progress bulletins were produced at each stage of the production of the document, and these can also be downloaded below.

Adoption of the SPD

Shaping Salford - supplementary planning document: design was formally adopted by Salford City Council in March 2008.
