Local flood risk management strategy

Flooding is a very important issue in Salford and climate change is likely to increase the risk of flooding in future. Salford City Council works closely with the Environment Agency and other partners in order to minimise the risk to people and property, but no amount of flood defences can ever offer full protection from every flood.

In its role as lead local flood authority, the city council is required to produce a local flood risk management strategy. The strategy will help to guide and prioritise actions within Salford to manage local flood risk. It will also be used to help attract funding for better flood defences in the future.

The Salford Local Flood Risk Management Strategy was adopted in May 2015. A copy of this strategy, the adoption statement and accompanying assessments can be downloaded at the foot of this page. The strategy and adoption statement are also available to view in all Salford libraries.
