This gives details of the budget agreed by council on Wednesday 28 February 2018. It provides information on the specific proposals for the 2018 to 2019 revenue budget and council tax, including the details of the savings and budget reductions totalling £11.2 million required to balance our budget.
The downloadable document below gives a less technical financial summary of our 2018 to 2019 revenue budget. It explains where the money comes from including changes in government funding, where it will be spent, how this affects what council tax you pay and what monies we pay to fund services provided by other bodies.
Each year your council tax bill tells you what you pay for Salford council’s services, as well as what you contribute to other important Greater Manchester-wide public services, such as the police and fire and rescue service.
These latter are called “precepts” and always appear on your bill. This year, the responsibility for setting these precepts sits with the new Greater Manchester Mayor, so they will look slightly different to how they have in previous years.
In addition, we’ve also given details of the costs of transport in Greater Manchester. This doesn’t appear on your bill as it is mostly funded through a levy contribution from the local district councils, with a smaller proportion coming from the mayoral precept.
The downloadable document below gives details of the budget for each service group of the council and an analysis both objectively for schools, libraries, highways maintenance etc and subjectively for employees, premises, supplies and services, etc.
