Illegal Money Lending Team

Details

This team investigates illegal money lending and prosecutes the lenders. Loan sharks may harass those who owe them money and are quite often involved in other criminal activity. Everything is confidential.

Free, independent and impartial welfare rights and debt advice for people in Salford who are over 18; are Salford residents or registered with a Salford GP; and who have a mental health condition. It offers free, independent and impartial advice helping with all aspects of benefits and debts. MIND offers appointments at the Angel Centre and home visits, providing advice on debt and welfare rights (including Universal Credit).

Details

Expert legal advice and representation on all issues of immigration, nationality, asylum and human rights. Salford Assist 

Details

Short term support to people who are in crisis, emergency or major disaster situation. No cash payments, but help with essential items and basic needs e.g. baby needs, essential furniture, emergency fuel supply, Council Tax support, copies of birth certificates for homeless people.

Charis 

Details

Help through fuel suppliers’ trust funds towards water and energy bills, clearing arrears or practical help such as providing an A+ rated essential household appliance, help with funeral costs or even an eSkills learning voucher to increase the chances of getting employment. Charis has an unique ‘shared programme’ that means when you submit an application, they will automatically check your eligibility over all available trusts and funds to maximise the help available so you will only need to apply once.
