Business waste and recycling collections

Workplace recycling in England is changing

From 31 March 2025, new waste regulations under the Environment Act 2021, known as Simpler Recycling, will come into effect.

Under the new regulations, businesses with ten or more full-time equivalent employees must separate their waste and recycle the following waste streams:

  • Food waste
  • Paper and card
  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays, carton
  • Metal tins, cans, foil, empty aerosol
  • Glass bottles and jars

For more details, check the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs’ guidance, which provides further information on the upcoming changes.

Slash your waste costs - and your carbon footprint!

All businesses are responsible for arranging and paying for the collection and disposal of the waste they produce as waste collections are not included in business rates.

Salford City Council can therefore provide your organisation with a comprehensive business waste and recycling collection service - tailored to your individual business needs.
