Salford Register Office will move from Salford Civic Centre into Buile Hill Mansion, in Buile Hill Park, later this year, 2025. All appointments and ceremonies will then take place at the mansion. More details about this can be found below.
Bookings are now being taken for weddings and other ceremonies at the mansion from early 2026.
The mansion is a Grade II listed building at the centre of the park. It’s currently being restored and will feature an impressive ceremony room on the first floor, which will hold up to 80 guests. This is where the legal ceremony will take place.
A separate function room for wedding receptions may also be booked (subject to availability) should couples wish to host their ceremony and reception in one place. The function room will also hold up to 80 guests and is located on the ground floor of the Mansion. The function room will also be available for other events.
The computer generated images below give an idea of what the mansion rooms will look like, combining the character and splendour of years gone by with modern day comfort and luxury.
A new car park is under construction and will provide plenty of spaces for guests to park.

Births, deaths and notice of marriage/civil partnerships appointments
All appointments will take place face to face at Buile Hill Mansion and not the Town Hall. Appointments can still be made online or to make an appointment by telephone you can still ring 0161 793 2500.
Our registration offices will be located on the second floor of the mansion where you will still report to our reception. There will be lift access to the second floor.
Car parking will be provided close to the mansion (subject to availability), located within Buile Hill Park.
Copy certificates
The quickest and easiest way will still be to apply for a copy certificate online. You will have the option to choose to have the certificate posted to you or you will be able to collect your certificate from Buile Hill Mansion.
If you wish to apply in person you will need to go to the second floor of the mansion and report to reception. Lift access is available and car parking will be provided close to the mansion (subject to availability)
Citizenship ceremonies
Public ceremonies will be held at the Mansion once a month on a Tuesday afternoon. These will take place in the new ceremony room at Buile Hill Mansion. This will be located on the first floor of the mansion where you will be greeted by our Registrars’ to book in and complete your document check.
Private citizenship ceremonies will still be available and will be held at the mansion.
Lift access is available and car parking will be provided close to the mansion (subject to availability)
Baby naming/renewal of vows ceremonies
We will still be offering these ceremonies that will take place in our new ceremony room at Buile Hill Mansion – see above for details of our ceremony room.
Please check this website for further updates on when the service will relocate to the mansion. Once the service has moved to the Mansion there will be no services remaining at the Town Hall in Swinton.
