Play isn’t just fun, it's also the best way for children to learn. By playing your children can practice all the skills they’ll need as they grow. To grow and develop, children need time and attention from someone who’s happy to play with them.
Your child’s brain grows better when you do five simple things that feed the growing brain: respond, cuddle, relax, play and talk. These are your child’s daily five to thrive.
The building blocks for a healthy brain. A healthy brain will help children be happy in themselves, make friends and enjoy their family life, as well as being the best start for learning once they go to school.
Below you will find age specific guidance and activities linked to the five to thrive framework, these activities are here to support your child’s development though play and focused activities.
All the fun activities that you do with your child at home are important in supporting their learning and development and have a long-lasting effect on your child’s learning as they progress through school or nursery or at a childminder.
If your child goes to a childcare facility you will be familiar with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework but if not, here is a little break down of what the EYFS is and how its used to support your child’s development.
In the sections for ages 1 to 2, 3 to 4 and 4 to 5 the Five to Thrive framework remains the same however you will also see the EYFS learning areas with activities to help develop that learning outcome.
Feel free to explore all the ages as the activities can be adjusted to fit your child and your busy daily routine as we know finding time can be a bit tricky sometimes. To access the activities, find your child’s age and interest then click on the activity you would like. Have fun exploring and please send us feedback.
