Notice of confirmation of public path order

Section 257 Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and section 53A(2) Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 City of Salford (Definitive Map Footpath 11 Salford (Part) (Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification) Order 2021

Footpath Between Jubilee Bridge and Britannia Street, Salford

On 18 January 2022 Salford City Council (“the Council”) confirmed the above order. The effect of the order as confirmed is to extinguish and divert the following footpath, as shown on the order map -

1. Divert

The whole of the width and that length of Definitive Map Footpath 11 Salford - from Point A where it adjoins
Jubilee Bridge (grid reference SD 81194 00580) in a south westerly direction for a distance of 71 metres
to Point B at the back of footway of Britannia Street (grid reference SD 81134 00540), as shown by a bold
continuous line on the Order map.

2. Description of the site of alternative footpath (to be part of Footpath 11 Salford)

From Point A where it adjoins Jubilee Bridge (grid reference SD 81194 00580) in a generally south westerly direction for a distance of 70 metres to Point C at the back of footway of Britannia Street (grid reference SD  81144 00531) having a width throughout of two metres, as shown by a bold dashed line on the Order map.

Construction details: the Alternative Footpath will be constructed with a firm surface of tarmac. The order will amend the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way accordingly.

A copy of the confirmed order and the order map may be seen free of charge at Swinton Gateway, 100 Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 6BP Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm.

The order comes into force on the date on which Salford City Council certify that the terms of Article 3 of the order have been complied with but if any person aggrieved by the order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within six weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 8 of Schedule 14 of that Act.
