Sign in or register for an accountSalford City Council is committed to involving local people in decisions about the city. One example of this is the devolved budgets which are allocated to local communities.
In 2025 to 2026, £160,000 has been allocated across the eight neighbourhoods, by head of the population, where decisions are made on how the budget should be spent.
Each neighbourhood elects a sub-group from among its members. They assess applications and make recommendations/decisions about how the funding should be spent. Budget sub-groups include local residents and local councillors. They discuss ways in which the funding could best be used to improve health outcomes for the local population and may approve, refuse or request further information in relation to funding applications.
The table below shows the amounts of funding devolved to each neighbourhood:

Devolved highways budgets
In addition to the devolved budgets, a further £50,000 per year funding for highways and transport improvements is devolved to each neighbourhood. This gives local people an opportunity to have a say on highways improvements and road safety in their areas.
If you would like to influence how devolved budgets are spent in your area, please contact your neighbourhood team.
