Planning obligations are sought to mitigate the impact of new development, and to ensure that it is acceptable in planning terms. The planning obligations supplementary planning document provides more detailed guidance to support the implementation of the Salford Local Plan: Development Management Policies and Designations (SLP:DMP).
The planning obligations SPD was adopted by the council on 18 June 2015. It was refreshed on 9 December 2019 and can be downloaded below.
Following the adoption of the Salford Local Plan: Development Management Policies and Designations (SLP:DMP) in January 2023, a review was undertaken to determine whether the existing SPDs and other local planning policy documents could continue to be used to assist in the implementation of the new plan. The review noted that the SLP:DMP contains much more detail on planning obligations than the Unitary Development Plan and concluded that some parts of the SPD are inconsistent with and have been superseded by, the SLP:DMP and can therefore no longer be applied. The elements of the SPD which no longer apply are set out in an explanatory note. This note should be read alongside the adopted SPD and can be downloaded below.
For the purposes of demonstrating compliance with Regulation 123 of the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations, a schedule of all planning obligations that the council entered between 6 April 2010 and 31 March 2019 is available to download below.
The Planning Obligations Infrastructure Funding Statement provides schedules of all planning obligation activity from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2023.
