Greater Manchester joint waste development plan document monitoring

This monitoring report collates information to allow for the assessment of the performance of planning policies in the Greater Manchester Joint Waste Development Plan document (the waste plan), which became part of Salford's development plan upon its formal adoption on 1 April 2012.

This monitoring report covers the 12 month period from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.

The waste plan forms part of the statutory development plan for the following authorities:

  • Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Bury Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Manchester City Council
  • Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Salford City Council
  • Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council

In assessing the performance of the waste plan policies, it therefore reports on performance across the ten authorities.

To support the implementation of Article 28 of the EU Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) the monitoring report also contains information on the location and capacity of existing and future major disposal and recovery installations within Salford.
