Supporting Autistic Learners

Come and book onto this NEW event for 2025-2026, hosted by the Specialist Team for Autism in LSS. This is a chance to collaborate with the specialist teachers and teaching assistants, learn from peers, share good practice with schools working in the same phase, take away links to resources and enjoy a refreshed approach to supporting our children and young people.

Elklan Courses - Speech and Language Support for 11-16s – Secondary

Delivered by:

Salford Speech and Language Therapy Service (SALT)

Session content:

  • Attendance at all sessions is compulsory. Please discuss with your tutor or the course organiser if you know you will not be able to attend a session. Where possible please let the course tutor know before the session if you will not be attending. Portfolio work still needs to be completed.
    • For successful completion of the three-day course, you are not able to miss a day. If you do miss a day, you are able to purchase E-learning modules from Elklan.
    • As the three-day course is a more intense learning situation, please consider whether this style of delivery is suitable for the learner who is attending.
  • 75% of each session will involve active learning. There will be some basic theory to ensure a sound basis upon which you can develop your practical skills during the course and beyond. Active learning involves group work and discussion.
  • Each participant is required to complete an e-portfolio at either Level 2 or Level 3. This provides an opportunity for reflection and encouragement to adapt and implement the principles discussed within your own working environment.
  • The course is externally verified by OCN and participants receive an accredited level 2 or 3 qualification.

It is important that the participant is given time to complete their e-learning activities. It is recommended that this is discussed and organised with the participant before they attend the course.
