Red Pepper is a FREE and very exciting, one hour, five-week programme of healthy lifestyle activities to support you, as a family, in leading or continuing to lead a healthier lifestyle. As a family, you will be encouraged each week by one of our personal health and weight advisors who has a good knowledge in family diet, nutrition and exercise. Each session is run in a friendly and non-judgemental way and packed full of fun activities for your child or children. Activities can include trampolining, family swim pass, taster sessions at a local boxing academy and much more. The activity will be discussed with you and your child to find out which suits you best.
The sessions provide support in a one-to-one or group setting and can be held online or face-to-face (you choose). During the sessions you’ll receive information and encouragement around improving diet, family meals and recipes, fun ways to exercise as a family, and further information through various free resources and weekly food tasting.
Are you worried that your child may be overweight?
Obesity puts children at risk of medical problems that can affect their health now and in the future. These include serious conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol — all once considered adult diseases.
Join our Red Pepper group, and together we can work towards keeping your family healthy.
The family Red Pepper sessions are for any family who lives in Salford or has a Salford GP and has at least one child over the age of five. They are designed for parents who are concerned that their child is above a healthy weight. Parents can book the family on to the programme, or the referral can come through a health professional. Your whole family can benefit and take part in the sessions even if you only have one child above a healthy weight. We are very inclusive and treat a family as one.
We offer a wide variety of sessions, via two main formats – online or face-to-face (you choose).
You will be able to find a session format, time and location that suits you, as our sessions cater for both weekdays and weekends – there is a session available to book onto every day of the week!
Please take a look below to find out more.

Online courses are held over Microsoft Teams, and are limited to one family per session, so that you work with your Health Improvement Worker on a one-to-one basis. Your family can take part from the comfort of your own home, via your laptop, tablet or mobile phone. We need your email address for this, and our friendly staff will be on hand to set you up and resolve any uncertainty around using Microsoft Teams.
