Sign in or register for an accountAdditional HMO Licensing requires certain landlords who own or manage HMOs within the city to obtain a licence from the council. These proposals consider a scheme covering Section 257 HMOs and if granted licences will include a set of conditions that landlords must comply with.
Prior to designating any Additional HMO Licensing scheme, the council is required by law to consult with people, businesses, and organisations that are likely to be affected by the proposals and consider any views fully before making a decision.
A consultation document has been produced which sets out a detailed explanation of the proposals, explains Additional HMO Licensing in more details and provides the evidence required to designate a scheme.
You can read the consultation document below:
The consultation will commence on 4 February 2026 and will run for ten weeks until 15 April 2026.
