DF 35 and 37 Swinton and Pendlebury and Adjacent Footpaths

Salford City Council intends to make in no less than seven days the Salford City Council (Definitive Map Footpaths DF 35 and 37 Swinton and Pendlebury and Adjacent Footpaths) (Temporary Closure) Order 2021 under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The order will temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding in:

1. Definitive Map Footpath DF37, Swinton and Pendlebury - from the south-eastern cul-de-sac end of Buttermere Avenue to the north western side cul-de-sac end of Linksway;
2. The un-made footpath from the A580 East Lancashire Road in a north easterly direction, following the rear of Overdale to a point opposite Springwood School, then proceeding in a north westerly direction (including the adjacent spur footpath) passing to the west side of the Swinton Football Club pitch to Dorchester Road; and 
3. Definitive Map Footpath DF35 Swinton and Pendlebury, from its junction with Dorchester Road for a distance of 20 metres in a north easterly direction to the passageway leading to Hartspring Avenue. 

The pedestrian diversion routes will be -

• on the west side of the closures - via the A6 Manchester Road, Dorchester Road, Eccles Road and the A580 Manchester Road - and vice versa; and
• on the east side of the closures - via the A6 Manchester Road, Barton Road, Overdale, Linksway and the passageway leading to the A580 Manchester Road - and vice versa.

The order is necessary to enable works of repair and improvement to be undertaken to the footpaths.

The order is due to come into operation on 12 April 2021 and will be in effect for a period of up to six months, depending on the progress of the works. A plan showing the footpaths affected by the order and alternative route may be examined at the Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 5DA, between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday inclusive (due to the COVID-19 restrictions, please ensure that the Civic Centre is open before attending).
