There has also been some extra vegetation cutback, in addition to the usual park maintenance at the request of the Friars School.

A consultation event was held at Blackfriars Park on 11 April 2025 with an open online survey available for a couple of months after this event. 53 park visitors and local residents had their say on what they thought about the park currently and what they wanted from the park.
This event helped local people to meet their local councillors and the council’s neighbourhood, parks, health improvement, youth services officers and park development officers.
49% of you visit Blackfriars Park daily.
In giving reasons for visiting the park, 34% of you use Blackfriars Park as a walking route to another place, 29% for exercise and 37% just to access some greenery.
The majority of you said that access to nature and exercise/sports pitches are the most valuable part of the park.
You suggested that more seating and improved play/sports facilities would encourage more people to come to the park to extend their stay.
You told us that antisocial behaviour (52%), litter (48%), dog fouling (27%) and personal safety (24%) are the biggest issues at Blackfriars Park. With a focus on how drug dealing and taking within the park affects your feeling of personal safety. You told us that reducing the antisocial behaviour would positively impact on your visitation time to Blackfriars Park.
You said an increased police presence, more community activities including children’s activities, events (e.g. planting) and regular volunteering (for example litter picking) would counter this anti-social behaviour and make the park a more welcoming place.
To help maintain regular and consistent communication between park visitors, local residents and the local authority, regular communications were requested. Initially, updates would be provided online on this page.
Improved signage at the park was also suggested to improve the community feel within the park.
If you have any comments on our survey findings above or wish to share your thoughts on how we can work together to improve Blackfriars Park, you can email us at EastSalford.NMT@salford.gov.uk
