EMTAS and referral form

Salford Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) provides support to all local authority schools. They help them meet the additional needs of their ethnic minority pupils.

These may be children who have English as an additional language (EAL), may be of Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) heritage or have asylum or refugee status.

We offer a variety of services to schools, including:

  • One to one or group support
  • Training and advice on best practice ethnic minority achievement including new arrivals, advanced learners, GRT and asylum or refugee pupils 
  • Assessment and tracking
  • Support on whole school policies and provision mapping
  • Resources
  • Interpreters for new arrival admission meetings
  • Liaison with parents and other agencies
  • Cultural and religious awareness training
