The neighbourhood area is made up of the wards of Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green. The area is extremely varied - the northern half is moss land, enabling Irlam and Cadishead to have the largest farming community in Salford. The southern half is mainly residential, having its own major employment source based on the Northbank Industrial Estate.
Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green has numerous sports clubs, bands and interest groups. A list is available at the two local libraries.
The leisure facilities in Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green include the Acorn Sports and Art Centre and a football ground. There is the Irlam and Cadishead Leisure Centre, which includes a large swimming pool and various sports facilities. There is also an active angling club and the old river makes excellent fishing.
Irlam Steel Recreation and Social Club have a fantastic sports pavilion. It provides modern changing rooms, a social room and disabled access for all their sports teams.
The seven acre site, off Liverpool Road in Irlam, is home to Irlam Cricket Club, three senior Irlam Steel football teams, several bowling teams as well as hosting darts, dominoes and snooker.
The pavilion has been made possible thanks to funding from the Hamilton Davies Trust and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The main shopping area is located off Fairhills Road and includes a Tesco superstore and Lidl.
Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green has a great choice of pubs with a couple of restaurants from which to choose.
Community Committee meetings for Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green are held bimonthly. Anyone wanting to find out what's going on or get involved is invited to attend. Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green's digital information board gives community groups an ideal way of getting their message to the local community.
On the corner of Liverpool Road and Fairhills Road in Irlam, the board is seen by thousands of people a day, either going to the local supermarkets or travelling along Liverpool Road.
If you are involved in a local group and would like to get a message on the board - free of charge, you need to register.
You can pick up a registration form from Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green libraries. You should then take the completed form to one of the libraries. Or make contact on theĀ Irlam's community Facebook page.
Once registered, you can send requests for information to be displayed. The board is updated at least twice a week and information can run for up to two months.
The board is a partnership between Salford City Council, Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Higher Irlam and Peel Green community committee, the Rotary Club of Irlam and the Hamilton Davies Trust.
