About the area

Swinton town centre is the city's administrative centre, both Salford City Council and the police have their headquarters based there. This is also where you will find Swinton Square Shopping Centre and the Swinton Gateway Centre, home to the towns library and children's centre.

In the Pendlebury and Clifton ward, is the beautiful Clifton Country Park which stretches down to the Irwell Valley. Swinton is also home to the Green Flag Victoria Park, the only Victorian themed park in Salford with a bandstand. There are several other parks in Swinton and Pendlebury including Moorside Park, Campbell Road Playing Fields and Wardley Park.

Swinton and Pendlebury is dissected by three major roads - the A580 East Lancashire Road, the A6 and the A666, which means that links to Manchester and the surrounding areas are good. There are also good rail links to Manchester.

There are three high schools and 14 primary schools.
