The area is made up of two wards, Worsley and Westwood Park and Boothstown and Ellenbrook.

About the area

Worsley and Westwood Park, Boothstown and Ellenbrook is situated on the western edge of the city of Salford, bordered by the East Lancashire Road (A580) to the north and Bridgewater Canal to the south. This is the most prosperous service delivery area in Salford, a very stable, attractive and highly desirable residential area.

A significant amount of agricultural land and open land is situated in the Boothstown area that forms part of the 'green belt'.

The area is characterised by a growing middle aged population with high economic activity rates and the lowest unemployment rates in the city. It has high levels of educational attainment and low levels of poor health and lone parent families.

Overall crime levels in Worsley and Westwood Park, Boothstown and Ellenbrook are generally low compared to the rest of Salford although there is local concern about the incidence of vehicle crime and burglary.

Community committee and local task groups

Community committee meetings for Worsley and Westwood Park, Boothstown and Ellenbrook are held bi-monthly. Anyone wanting to find out what's going on or get involved is invited to attend. Get involved!

The Worsley and Westwood Park, Boothstown and Ellenbrook children and young people's task group meets every two months to focus upon priorities for younger residents of the area. The purpose of the group is to:

  • Identify and plan new projects for younger people
  • Help to decide how local funding is spent for projects that benefit younger people
  • Discuss how local services for younger people can be improved
  • Support volunteers and community groups in securing funding for projects

The group is made up of members that are community volunteers, Salford City Council officers and partners and local councillors. Some of the key achievements of the group are:

  • Organising and offering a Friday night music project for young people to attend during the winter months
  • Planning summer activity schemes and publicity
  • Working with a local school to host sports activities after school hours

We would welcome members of community groups from the area to become involved in future activities of the task group so please come along and help us plan positive activities for young people in Worsley and Westwood Park, Boothstown and Ellenbrook.
