If you’re a smoker who is admitted to hospital, you’ll be offered help to stop smoking through the CURE project. You’ll be offered behavioural support and pharmacotherapy to help you to quit whilst you’re in hospital, and this continues once you’re discharged.
Public Health England research shows that 6 in 10 smokers want to quit, and 4 in 10 plan to quit this year. They acknowledge however that it can take a smoker on average 30 tries before they quit successfully.
To help you quit you can use Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), such as patches or gum. Access to NRT is free for up to 12 weeks for anyone who lives or works in Salford. Your stop smoking advisor can arrange for this to be collected from your local pharmacy, totally free of charge.
