Who needs to register for business rates?

You will be liable for business rates if you use a building or part of a building for non-domestic purposes

  • An occupier of a non-domestic property, either as an owner or as a tenant
  • An occupier of a non-domestic property and have a signed tenancy agreement, even if you have not moved in or started trading
  • A landlord of a non-domestic property, and you do not have a tenant.
