100th birthday celebrations

If you, or someone you know, residing within Salford, is due to celebrate a 100th birthday and you wish to request civic recognition of this special occasion, you should complete our 100th birthday nomination form.

It is usual for the Ceremonial Mayor and Mayoress or Consort to call on the person to present a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the council.

It may also be possible to arrange a photo call and, if you are interested in this, you should indicate your interest when making the arrangements. The timing of the Ceremonial Mayor’s visit will be confirmed to the applicant by letter or email.

Before you start

  • This application should be made at least six weeks prior to the birthday

Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate the timing requested for the presentation, this will depend upon the availability of the Ceremonial Mayor.

The Department of Works & Pensions automatically notify, but applications can be made on a personal basis enclosing a photocopy of the celebrant's birth certificate. It is also possible to receive a belated message up to six months after the event.

The King may also be requested to send a congratulatory message to couples who reach their diamond (60th), 65th and 70th wedding anniversaries, and every year thereafter.
