Moving and relocating to a new country can be challenging for everyone. But there is local support and advice are available to help you settle into Salford comfortably and safely. 

The following guides provide important information about health care, schools, and education and how to find work in the local and surrounding area.

Health care

In addition, you can find essential immunisation information for anyone who has moved to the UK. It includes details about vaccines for at-risk people with health conditions, pregnant women, infants, children, and older adults ¬- and the diseases this will help protect them from.

The Spirit of Salford Helpline can help you get support and advice on many different issues you might be facing, including advice about COVID and Homes for Ukraine. The helpline number is 0800 952 1000.

Local health and wellbeing services

Salford Community Leisure offers a great range of events, activities and places to meet for the whole family, at venues across Salford. These include leisure centres and libraries, art galleries, museums and community centres, music and performing arts, and much more.

For sponsors

Once your application is complete, sponsors will be contacted directly by Salford City Council to arrange a home and DBS check.

Withdrawing your interest

Hosts wishing to withdraw interest must do so on the Homes for Ukraine website. If you have applied to be a host and are still waiting for the placement of guests you will receive an email confirming your wish to continue with the scheme.

For guests

The council’s Welfare Team will arrange to meet guests when they arrive at the host’s property and provide any additional support and advice required.

Europia stands in support with Ukraine

  • Europia runs Ukrainian Community Sessions (drop-ins) every Monday from 2pm until 5pm at Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square, Manchester M2 5PD. Europia offers wellbeing and emotional support, welfare benefits, housing, and other advice. This project is funded by #WeloveManchester and Manchester City Council.
  • Europia can offer emergency grants for Homes for Ukraine scheme guests, Family Scheme guests, and Family Scheme hosts. An application form in Ukrainian is available.
  • If you want free one-to-one immigration advice for Ukrainian nationals, please get in touch with advice@europia.org.uk. Europia is an OISC LEVEL 3 registered organisation.
