Upcoming roadworks in Peel Green – early 2026

Over the coming months, a series of essential improvement works will be carried out in the Peel Green area. These works are designed to:

  • Upgrade utilities to strengthen local infrastructure
  • Introduce flood prevention measures to improve resilience against extreme weather
  • Deliver safety improvements for all road users

To complete these projects, various traffic restrictions will be in place at different stages. Full details are outlined below.

United Utilities

Date: 2 March to 19 April 2026

Location: Peel Green Road (closed 24/7 at the junction with Haddon Road)

Details: Installation of a new 1200mm diameter drainage pipe to increase network capacity and address flooding issues on Peel Green Road.

Date: 16 March to 29 March, including overnight works

Location: Liverpool Road (Eccles and Irlam)

Traffic management:

  • 16 March to 27 March: 24-hour lane closures from Barley Farm to Junction 11 roundabout
  • 16 March to 22 March: footway works, no impact on carriageway
  • 21 March to 22 March: three-way signals at Argosy Drive junction
  • 23 March to 29 March: lane closures for overnight works between 8pm to 6am, except 27 March and 29 March when works will be 11pm to 6am

Details: HV electrical works on behalf of Ionity to power EV chargers at Barley Farm (remedial works)
