Conservation area appraisals

Salford City Council has adopted appraisals for six of its conservation areas:

  • Adelphi/Bexley Square
  • Barton-upon-Irwell
  • Roe Green /Beesley Green
  • The Cliff
  • The Crescent
  • Worsley Village

A draft appraisal for the St Augustine's conservation area has also been produced. The appraisals and their associated documents are available to download on the relevant individual conservation area page.

The purpose of a conservation area appraisal is to define what is important about the character and appearance of a conservation area and to identify its special characteristics. It provides a basis for making decisions about the future management of the conservation area, helping to determine what might be appropriate development in and around its boundary.

We are currently looking to commence a full review of all of our 16 conservation areas in early 2025 which will also include a review of the existing conservation area appraisals. All information about our conservation areas will be updated as necessary after this.
