Agecroft Cemetery and Crematorium

Agecroft Cemetery was opened in 1903, and to date more than 53,700 interments have been carried out within the 45 acres of grounds.

Agecroft Crematorium temporary closure - 15 October to 8 November

Due to essential works being carried out at Agecroft Crematorium, it will be closed for three weeks, from Friday 15 October to Monday 8 November. The main entrance to Agecroft Cemetery will also be closed during this time for essential maintenance.

Burial services will continue at Agecroft Cemetery but due to work being carried out, the chapel will be closed. During this period Swinton Chapel will be available free of charge for families who would like to hold a chapel service before a burial in Agecroft Cemetery.

While Agecroft Crematorium is closed, services will be offered at Peel Green Crematorium, including Saturday services, at no additional cost.

Closure to Agecroft Road entrance and new temporary entrance - 18 October to 8 November

The normal entrance to Agecroft Cemetery on Langley Road will be closed from Monday 18 October to Monday 8 November for essential maintenance. The temporary cemetery entrance will be off Agecroft Road. There will be diversion signs for road traffic and pedestrians on both Langley Road and Agecroft Road.

There will be signs in the cemetery to guide vehicles around a one-way system to ensure the safety of all visitors. The cemetery will be open as normal.

We understand this closure may cause some inconvenience. While the essential work is completed our staff will work hard to keep any disruption to a minimum.

Agecroft is the newest of the city's cemeteries.

The crematorium building was formerly the old Non-Conformist burial chapel. It was converted into the crematorium in January 1957. The chapel seats up to 80 mourners and is accessible for wheelchair users.

Toilets are positioned to the left of the main entrance into the cemetery and a number of water taps are located within the grounds for use by visitors.

There is a one way system for vehicles in operation which must be adhered to for insurance reasons. The authority cannot be held responsible for accidents which occur if entering or exiting at the wrong point.
