Salford Residents Funeral Services

Losing a loved one is a difficult and emotional experience.

We have arranged a fixed price, value for money funeral service for those who want someone to take care of arrangements for them, without any compromise on the quality of customer service provided.

The Salford Residents Funeral Service is handled by a professional funeral director.

The service is available to anyone who is arranging the funeral of someone who has died whilst living in Salford. You may also be eligible for help with funeral costs if you are on a low income.

How much is it?

The service is a fixed price so you know exactly what you will need to pay:

• Cremation £2,580

• Burial £2,760

According to a report publish by Sunlife in 2025 'Cost of Dying', the average cost of a funeral now stands at £4,285.

What do you get?

The service will be held at one of Salford City Council's crematorium or one of the three open cemeteries.

It includes:

• Collection of the deceased (from within the city)

• Use of the funeral director’s chapel of rest (for families where transport is unavailable a collection service is available to visit the chapel of rest by arrangement). Visits to the chapel of rest are available:

  • anytime Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm

  • by appointment with 24 hours notice for visits Monday to Friday between 5pm and 7pm

  • by appointment with 48 hours notice for visits Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 12pm

• Arranging and supervising the funeral

• Hearse and one following limousine to carry six passengers on the day of the funeral

• A suitable oak (or similar) finished coffin, with engraved nameplate, interior and appropriate handles

• Cremation costs/burial costs

It does not, however, include discretionary costs such as flowers or an obituary in the paper.

Additional services

Further services can also be offered, such as:

• Embalming

• Additional limousines

• Obituaries and acknowledgement notices

• Floral tributes

• Memorial inscriptions

Any extra items requested will incur additional costs and the funeral directors will provide an estimate of these on request.
