Folly Lane, Rocky Lane and South Avenue

Salford City Council proposes to make the following orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The titles and effect of the proposed orders will be as follows.

Proposed no waiting at any time on:

Folly Lane and Rocky Lane, Swinton South and Eccles:

  • Both sides, from a point 10m north extended kerbline of Birch Road to a point 15m south extended kerbline of Chorlton Fold 325m in a south direction.

Birch Road, Swinton South:

  • Both sides, from western extended kerbline of Folly Lane 23m in a west direction.

South Avenue, Swinton South:

  • Both sides, from east extended kerbline of Folly Lane 10m in an east direction. 

Footway conversion to a shared use, unsegregated footway/cycle track

Folly Lane and Rocky Lane:

  • West side, from north of northern extended kerbline of Willow Street for a distance of 35.5m in a southerly direction with a minimum width 2.5m.

Folly Lane and Rocky Lane:

  • East side, from southern extended kerbline of South Avenue for a distance of 57m in a southerly direction with a minimum width 2.5m.

South Avenue:

  • South side, from western extended kerbline of Folly Lane for a distance of 10m in an easterly direction. 

Proposed toucan crossing 

Folly Lane and Rocky Lane: 

  • The mid-point of the crossing will be located 12.75m southern extended kerbline of Willow Street
  • The Toucan Crossing will be 7m in width, 3.6m in length with zig–zags extending to 21.24m north east and 26.71m south west from the mid-point of the crossing.

Existing orders are to be amended to be consistent with the above proposals.

Any reference in this order to any road, street and or other location shall be construed to the name herein and any subsequent name thereafter.

Copies of the proposed orders together with the plans and a statement of the council's reasons for proposing to make the orders may be examined at Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 5DA, between 8.30am and 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays (due to the COVID-19 restrictions please ensure that the Civic Centre is open before attending).

  • Folly Lane and Rocky Lane, Swinton South and Eccles, both sides, from a point 10 metres northern extended kerbline of Birch Road to a point 15 metres southern extended kerbline of Chorlton Fold for a distance of 325 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Birch Road, Swinton South, both sides, from western extended kerbline of Folly lane for a distance of 23 metres in a westerly direction.
  • South Avenue, Swinton South, both sides, from eastern extended kerbline of Folly Lane for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction.
